According to People magazine, the couple is no longer together right now. Hours after the reports broke out, the 28-year-old singer took to his official Twitter handle to release a statement on the matter, telling his fans that he just wants to create a safe and private space for her daughter to grow up in.
"A place where private family matters aren't thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart. In an effort to protect that space for her, I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered out home while my partner was away several weeks ago," Zayn wrote on Twitter.
The singer further expressed that this should be a private matter and all he wants is to create a peaceful family environment for their daughter to grow in. Zayn also took a dig at the reports, subtly taking a shot at how the information was "leaded" to the media."This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been "leaked" to the press," Zayn said.
"I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves," he added.
Zayn and Gigi's on-and-off relationship has been going on since the couple made their first public appearance in 2015. The couple confirmed their relationship in 2016 but parted ways in 2018. A year later, the two got back together before breaking up again in 2019. But by the end of the year, the two reconciled and then became parents to their daughter Khai in 2020.
